Missouri Dealership Licensing Requirements
Before you open your doors, Missouri law requires all motor vehicle dealers to be properly licensed through the Department of Revenue. Here's what you need to know.
Who Must Be Licensed — RSMo §301.550
- • Sell 8+ motor vehicles per year
- • Sell 6+ boats/powersports/trailers per year
- • Manufacture or modify new motor vehicles
- • Take possession of vehicles for public auction

Used, Franchised, Powersport, Boat, or Manufacturer. Separate license per location.
Secure Your Surety Bond

Pass a Background Check
All applicants must complete a name-based criminal record check.
Establish a Business Location
Permanent lot, enclosed office, local zoning compliance required.
